Video: Hijabi Receiving Gold Medal and Refusing to Shake Hands

Last week I posted this amazing picture of Mariam Hashemi winning the gold medal for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 2013 World Wushu Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. What is amazing is her refusal to shake the hands of the commissioner awarding her the gold medal. She appropriately formed her hands into a common martial arts greeting out of respect and held on to her religion at the same time. Much props to her. Iran won seven gold and three bronze medals in this tournament giving hope to a productive their 2016 Olympic campaign.
